New rules for homes with lead paint
We have completed our training to be certified as lead safe renovators. The training was a real eye opener to the affects of lead poisoning and the new procedures we will be required to enact starting April 22 2010. Pre 1978 constructed homes will require special dust and debris containment practices unless the home is tested as lead free. The % of homes built from 1960-1978 that contain lead paint is around 25%. Testing those homes could prove beneficial as companies are quoting between $50-$150 per window to comply with the new rules. These charges reflect equipment purchases, containment and cleaning materials, and most of all the additional labor involved. We are confident that we can stay at the low end of the price increase of $50 per window to comply. For more info on the the affects of lead and new lead rules go to www.epa.gov/lead. ...read more
