I will now say I will no longer attend the house of prayer that is located in Tacoma Washington. I can not believe Pastor Virgo would allow members of his church to harass people who want to attend another church. A woman by the name of Marykay evans harassed me and told me that God told her that hop is where I need to be at and because I stop attending the church cause of work and decided to attend a church that was closer she said that God made me get hit by a car and that I would surely die if I don't go to the church so on that note I will never attend a hop church ...read more

Have you ever wondered why June is such a popular month for weddings? For centuries, brides and grooms have been marrying in the month of June for several reasons, and many of them are not so pleasant. It is said that the Romans married in June because they believed that the month of June was dedicated to Juno, who was the goddess of marriage (Sexton, 2007). It has also been rumored that June in medieval times was close to when people had their yearly baths so the bride still smelled OK. However this is just a tall tale according to experts and it is simply not true (Snell, 2009). It is more likely; however, that there was a more practical, if not less romantic, reason why couples married in June. It was believed that if the bride were to conceive in June, then a birth would not interfere with harvest time (Sexton, 2007). The poor girl could still help out in the fall before the birth and she could help with the harvest in the fall following the birth (unless there was another expectant birth). My theory about June weddings in contemporary times is that a young couple could marry after graduation in June. Whether it be after high school (not as popular anymore) or after college, June is the month for graduations as well as weddings. Because we are so tradition oriented when it comes to ceremony and worship in general, it is possible that brides and grooms are just following in the footsteps of ancestors before them.
