All work and no play can make for a very dull life! But who can afford to play all day when it seems as if everything around us has gotten more and more expensive as the months and years progress? Well, we're here to tell you all is not lost! It IS possible to get together with friends and/or colleagues without breaking the bank. It just takes a little creativity, that's all. Below are our top 5 inexpensive party ideas that are sure to help get you out there and socializing in no time flat! 1. Potluck or (BYO - Bring your own....) parties. This option is a little more low-key, but it's a great way to have others display their cooking prowess. For instance, the theme of your party could be a recipe swap, or dessert night, or even bite-size (hors d'oeuvres) night. Everyone can bring their favorite food - and copies of the recipe if you want. All you need to do is provide something to wash it down and a place to sit down! 2. Party at the park. Forget all the dishes associated with a sit-down event. Go to the park! Set up a volleyball net (or find a place with a net already set up!). Bring a ball, or a soccer ball, or football, or play a few simple games and enjoy burning some calories AND spending time with those you love! 3. Go to the beach. Sure, this isn't something that works for everyone, or year round. But since I'm writing this little blog in the summertime, I'm gonna add it anyway. The beach doesn't necessarily mean the ocean - it can be a lake, or river. The idea is to find someplace that lets you gather and play in the water. Bring the kids! have everyone bring a picnic and some suntan lotion and let the water entertain you! 4. Scavenger hunt. This one takes a little bit of prep time on your part, but if done right is a party that will keep them talking for weeks or months afterward. Ideas include choosing 3-5 unique attractions throughout your city and giving clues to each location, a service scavenger hunt (they must do 10 acts of service and have the individuals sign off that the service has been performed), or a list of 25 random things they must find (and take a picture of). At the end of the scavenger hunt, they are to return to home base and have dessert and reminisce about their adventures. 5. Mystery Parties. Of COURSE we're gonna talk about a mystery party! We're Whodunnit Mysteries, after all! The inexpensive nature of our parties (or the possibility of inexpensiveness) is one of the many draws to our games. Yes, you can go all out and request full costumes, themed foods and location, etc. That is still a possibility. But if you are looking for an inexpensive game, we're still high on the list. Ultimately, all you need are a few friends open to a few hours of role playing, and a place to gather. The parts (and entertainment) are all included. Food is optional. Plus, with the more than 19 different theme options, and parties for up to 50 people, Whodunnit mystery games can be done year round and for virtually any occasion. Whatever you choose to do for your gathering, it's important to remember that you don't have to break the bank to do it. It' just requires you think outside the box a little bit, and then go for it! Good luck!!
