My experience with this agency was nothing but positive. From my first initial phone conversation all the way through the interview process and my placement with a great family I felt like the agency had my best interest in mind the entire time. The women at the agency were professional, honest, and knowledgable about the nanny industry. I could tell from the questions that they asked in my interview and the time they took getting to know my background, personality and childcare philosophies that they have the utmost respect for the families they work with and are dedicated to finding their clients the best possible nanny. So incredibly unprofessional. Worst interview experience ever. I was on a nanny site called care dot com, yes a glorified craigslist that is soley focused on childcare and can provide a background check, nonetheless it is a classified ad service that has worked for me in the past. I was messaged by Kristen W, who told me that she had a lovely little 2 year old girl that needed a nanny, someone who was a creative house manager, and that I looked like the right candidate. When we spoke on the phone, she admitted she worked for an agency, but that they nonetheless were interested in my credentials and that she wanted to interview me.When I went in for the interview, Megan, a very mean woman, brought me into her office. I was five minutes late and lord knows that is a bad impression... but beyond that I was qualified and had been targeted for a specific family that sounded interesting to me . During the interview, which lasted 35 minutes, Megan continually cut me off mid answer and was generally rude. I assumed however that it was some sort of tactic she used. Then however, she proceeded to tell me that the family I had come in for didn't even exist, and that most likely I would end up working as "backup care"-- this of course ignored the one part in my application where it asked what I wanted from an employer: to have a schedule! Regardless, I continued with the interview because at the time I didn't have a job, and I thought that this agency might lead somewhere. Then it started getting weird. She asked me if I was raised religiously, I said no, but that I had no problem working for a religious family. Then, even more werid, she asked me if I was "liberal or conservative" when I said that I don't really follow policy changes (in reality I'm neither liberal or conservative, my poltical alignments are very different and individual, and I disagree with liberal and conservative, democrats and republicans constantly) she however, wouldn't stop-- I got a conservative vibe from her so maybe that was why she was pushing, but she asked "well what about your family, were you raised liberal or conservative" at which point I basically said "if you are asking because of my compatibility with a family..." and she continued to push, asking "how were your poltical values defined," etc... IT was incredibly embarassing and moreover really illegal. The thought that she may have not given me a job because of my political or religious upbrignings or opinions is ILLEGAL and IMMORAL. She ended up giving me a job, but i didn't want such greedy and illegaly functioning women getting 30% of a paycheck I earned. ...read more
