Oom Yung Doe

5.0

By GregMartin2

8 Martial Arts Taught As 1 is definitely one of the best ways to train. Oom Yung Doe teaches practical and powerful self-defense techniques; ready for the street. Someone could throw a few punches, grabs, tackles, kicks, or takedoawns and you can be prepared to quickly handle any of it, ending the fight before it really begins. I have several years of experience in Tae Kwon Do winning many local, state, and even a couple national tournaments; but Oom Yung Doe really expanded my understanding of what martial arts can teach. I learned to go beyond simply trying to be better than my opponent; I focused on becoming better than I was yesterday. It's the best way to make sure you keep getting better and stay motivated. Thanks Everyone, ...read more

Pro Fitness

5.0

Pro Fitness in Burien is one of the best gyms I've been to. Yes, it's a quieter gym, but I like that I don't wait for machines or equipment and that I have a parking space when I pull in. After a few gyms I have been to in the same area, this gym is by far the cleanest. What it doesn't have is a daycare and a pool - no loss to me. I've noticed that the staff are very respectful and try to cater to customer wants and needs. In my own experience, the staff did everything in their power to help me get the best service as well as training possible. I really appreciated the free personal training session. The trainer designed a program specially for me and my goals. When I signed up, I talked to the manager. He was very polite and was helpful. There was no cheesy sales pitch. He was direct and to the point, explained what membership plans were available. I ended up going with the annual plan since it had the lowest overall cost. So to sum it up, Pro Fitness has quality equipment, great atmosphere and nice people! This is a gym that I feel comfortable working out in. And it was a good deal. My recommendation is to give it a try. ...read more

Minakami Karate Dojo

5.0

By DavidGrout

Before I picked a martial art school, I went all over Seattle looking at all kinds of Kung Fu, Taekwondo, Aikido, and other Martial art schools. When I went and saw Sensei Minakami's school I knew it was very different. I knew it was the real deal. Joining the Minakami Karate Dojo was one of the best decisions of my life. I found important life lessons I could directly apply to make my life better. What I learned from Sensei Minakami has been more important to my life than my Graduate School years at the University of Washington. That was 35 years ago, and I have never regretted my decision. Sensei Minakami is world renown. The group they are associated with in Japan are world renown. So many martial art schools are so young these days that they lack insight to true martial art. Because of their lack of insight they end up teaching flash and fluff instead of substance. If you are looking for real martial arts handed down through Samurai families go to Minakami Karate Dojo. ...read more
