About Bremerton, WA
Bremerton, Washington, nearly due west of Seattle on what's known as the Kitsap Peninsula, is probably best known as a shipyard town. The facility now known as the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard was first established in Bremerton in 1891 and has played an essential role ever since, particularly during World War II when the community boomed to include some 80,000 residents. Today, the Bremerton metro area has reached out to include Silverdale, about 10 miles to the north.
