About Eden, VT
Eden is a town in the north central region of Vermont. It is located in Lamoille County and, as of the 2000 census, had a population of 1,152. In the early to middle part of the twentieth century, Eden was home to a large and thriving asbestos mining industry, which was promptly shut down once the health hazards of the substance were discovered. Though there were long-standing concerns, a long-term study by the Vermont Department of Health ultimately revealed that the closed mining operation posed no health threat to local residents. Today, Eden is a comfortable mix of residential neighborhoods and business zones. Local businesses include the Windy Valley Equine Farm and Stowe Consulting Co. Eden has its own school district, and the largest school in the town is Eden Central School, which serves students in grades pre-K through sixth grade.
