About Winchester, VA
The historic city of Winchester, Virginia was the home of a young George Washington, and indeed was the first place he was elected to office. Later, the city, whose Winchester's metro area extends into West Virginia, played a pivotal role in the Civil War and came to be known for its bountiful apple harvests, which continue to this day. Modern-day visitors to this charming community, on the northern end of the Shenandoah Valley, will find plenty of dining, shopping and cultural opportunities as well.
