Shogun Japanese Steak House & Sushi Bar
By hsmith1980 at Citysearch February 25, 2012
I would NEVER tell anyone to go to this place. The chef put on a show, but the food is not good. The wait staff is blah. Ours called me named to the owner and was rude about asking for napkins and shrimp sauce for my kids. I talked to the owner about an issue and the fact that the server called me names and he was very dismissive. The food is overpriced, and blah. Go to Geisha. They are great and nice to the customers. ...read more
Shogun Japanese Steak House & Sushi Bar
By Landra Jones at Citysearch August 31, 2011
This place is terrible, it's that simple. I'm pretty forgiving, but lines have been crossed. The atmosphere is nice, and the staff is friendly, I can't fault them for anything. For what it is the prices are alright as well. The food is mediocre at best. It's the worst I've eaten at in Virginia Beach, but there are a lot of little hole in the wall places I've never tried. It's greasy and fatty, even for Asian, and they skimp on the seasoning, badly. The sanitation is what's really an atrocity. The fact that the health department hasn't shut them down can only be attributed to incompetence or bribery. The floors were so dirty that there piles of filth built up around the benches and the hibachi. The counters and tables were so sticky that the one time I touched one it left my hand sticky and I had to go wash before I ate. I am not confident that the plates had been washed with actual soap, I think they may have just been wiped off with a damp cloth. I actually watched our chef shove one of his utensils into the garbage chute to pack down overflowing food garbage from at least the past several days, and then put the same utensil back into my food. I would have walked out at that point if it wouldn't have offended the people who invited us. This is the second time I've visited Shogun, having been invited by friends of the family, and these conditions have not changed since last time. The first time we visited, to top off an evening that really gave me the willies, there was vomit on the bathroom floor and the drain in the floor was clogged. On this second visit, it was urine instead. In short, I will not be going back. If you want Hibachi and an entertaining show as your food is prepared, go to Otani's. May you find what you seek, Landra ...read more

Autumn Tour of Virginia 2009, Fall Colors Photos of Virginia
My partner (and wife) recently completed a one week trip around Virginia, trying to capture fall color with our Canon Digital cameras. We had a lot of fun, and returned with several great photos that will be part of our gallery forever. I'm going to include several here, but encourage you to visit the website, www.VirginiaImages.com to see many more! This is the one I like the most, it is very different from anything I would have composed on my own. Maryanne has been very supportive in my quest to see things differently. I love where this birdhouse is located amongst the berries, it provides a ample food supply for the inhabitants. Perhaps not, do birds eat these particular berries? Here are just a few of my favorites from this road trip. Again, please visit the website or stop into the studio. You can purchase online too! The shopping cart has just been updated and we offer super cheap shipping! ...read more

Richmond Skyline By Virginia Artist / Photographer Rudziensky
Richmond Virginia is many things to many people, to me it is Virginia's Architectural Jewel. As a professional landscape photographer, I have had occasion to travel around this city many times. Each time I find something new! This fall I captured this image from a parking garage, easy shot once the location was found. Other discoveries this year were the Hollywood Cemetery that provided hours of photographic opportunities. Weird place to take photos, but it was fun! The Richmond Skyline is magnificent and is second only to Norfolk for it's photographic appeal. This next photo was taken in 2006, and I plan to return to Richmond late this week to get a new skyline photo that will include the holiday lights. I will be posting another blog with the new panorama by the end of the week! Be sure to check back, or go to the website www.VirginiaImages.com to see more of my Richmond photos, click here: http://virginiaimages.com/catalog/richmond-capitol-of-va.html ...read more
