About Stuart, VA
The town of Stuart, named for Confederate Gen. J.E.B. Stuart, is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Patrick County, Virginia. A major attraction is the Patrick County Historical Museum, where you can view exhibits that highlight over two hundred years of Patrick County's history. Each year, many festivals are held here, namely, the Apple Dumpling Festival (Oct.), the Strawberry Festival (May), the Virginia Peach Festival (Aug.), the Patrick County Agricultural Fair (Sept.) and the Bluegrass Festival (July). One of the best places to visit when you are in Stuart is 4,537-acre Fairy Stone State Park, the largest of Virginia's six original state parks, home of the rare mineral crosses known as "fairy stones" and a place that offers a wide range of outdoor recreational opportunities.
