I take a computer in for repair. I told the employee I wanted an estimate before I would authorize work. I was prepared to buy a new laptop if necessary because this laptop was about 3 years old. They called me about a week later to tell me the repair would cost $80. Great! I give them authorization to complete the work. They call me about 10 days later to tell me it was ready for pick up. I go in and they tell me it was now $120.00, not $80.00! I question them on the difference and they tell me they did the recovery AND A BACKUP. OK, I didn't complain. I paid the $120.00 and took the computer home. I turn the computer on and I have less than 5% of my backup done. My daughter had a few school word and excel files that were backed up. The called the store and Paul told me I needed to bring the computer back in so they could search for where the repair tech placed the backup. The service tech was not working that day so I left it for him to tell me where he placed it. He called me to tell me it wasn't there and apologized profusely. I went in to pick up the computer and he continued to apologize for his mistake and told me it was A LEARNING LESSON. NO BACKUP was performed. I asked Paul for a refund on the backup they didn't perform. He said he could not refund labor. He did it a couple weeks before and Robert (owner I guess) jumped on him and told him there were no refunds for labor. He gave me Robert's number at the Electric Rd location. I call and the employee that answered told me he was there and to hold on. He asked me my name. He came back on the phone right away and told me Robert had left. I left a message and asked him to call back. HE NEVER CALLED BACK. I called him later that day and the employee said he gave him the message and he left for the day. I waited until the following day and called Paul at the Williamson Rd location and told him I expected Robert to call me back. HE NEVER CALLED BACK. That was a week ago today. Granted, they have a clause in their terms that says, "No refunds for labor". It should say "No refunds for labor NOT PERFORMED" as well as performed. I have bought 2 laptops from this store and have had NUMEROUS repairs. Was it worth $40.00 to rip a good customer off? Duke Douglass (I'm still waiting for the call) ...read more
