Schwarzschild Jewelers

1.0

By StereotypeRebel at Citysearch

I had my mother's ring resized to fit my finger at the Schwarzchild's in Carytown. The service was great, and they had the ring ready within a week in beautiful condition even though they had to add extra gold. It was done really well, really quickly, and priced under all of the other jewelers to whom I had taken the ring. This one instance built a lot of trust for this jeweler, but the next few incidents broke the trust. We ordered the engagement ring immediately after Memorial Day 2007. They said it could be ready in week as the ring was in the store and all they had to do was resize and polish. The resizing with this ring was much less complicated than my mother's ring. We were to get engaged at a lunch with our families at the end of June 2007. Well, the manager misplaced or lost the order we had put in, so the ring became a rush job the Friday before Sunday we were to get engaged. That was the first sign our relationship was going bad. It went from bad to worse. We went ahead and ordered our wedding bands at the time we had originally ordered the engagement ring which was immediately after Memorial Day. We knew we wanted to get married at the end of September 2007. We checked on the rings several times over the course of the 4 months. The manager told us not to worry. When the rings came in early September, they were the wrong colors and the wrong shape. Apparently, they had lost the original order and were guessing on the kind of rings we had requested. They reordered the rings. The rings came in just before the wedding. We were in such a rush to get them engraved in New York in Chinese and Hebrew that we didn't realize that the rings were the wrong karat of gold. We had ordered 18kt gold wedding bands. Now, we were stuck with 14kt gold rings engraved in Chinese with only a couple of days left before the wedding. Luckily, we weren't charged for 18kt gold rings. Don't count on Schwarzchilds to get your order right or on time. ...read more
