Resurrection Life is an independent charismatic church located in Grandville, Michigan. In 2004, this 10,000-plus member ministry began a 4,000 seat expansion of its facilities. When they began to expand the scope of the renovations, Scecon was brought on as part of a much larger team Each team focused on a specialized area of the building. The role we played included the main stage and sets, which we designed, constructed, and installed. We worked closely with the team and Resurrection Life in creating a dynamic and customizable stage that met the demands of their evolving worship styles and growing video and audio needs. The stage was outfitted with a metal back wall and decorative screens, as well as perforated, interior-lit columns. The stage also featured on-platform monitor stands and removable riser sections for the choir and musicians. Additionally, we designed and crafted a unique podium specifically designed for the current needs of the ministry. Above the stage, we constructed a massive gondola grid of truss and mesh. This gondola supports three 9' x 16' rear projection screens as well as lighting units. Scecon also produced the surrounds for the gondola's video screens. In 2004, Lockheed Martin began construction of their new research and development facility in Suffolk, Virginia. This was part of Lockheed’s mission of encouraging innovation among their clients by inviting them to come to the facility to test individual systems and processes with emerging technologies. Scecon was asked to come on board and handle the fabrication and installation of the physical view elements for the facility. The project design firm of Applied Minds, Inc. of California was the designer of the new facility and DBI of Washington DC is the Architect. Scecon’s role was to take the conceptual designs from AMI and create workable, build-able designs and technical drawings that could turn these concepts into reality. Scecon handled everything from lighting trusses, video walls, and workstation/kiosks to signage in the facility and the parking lot. Scecon has also assisted the team at Lockheed Martin to finish the physical view items in Sector 4. Gateway Church is a Bible-based, evangelistic, Spirit-empowered church located in North Richland Hills, Texas. The building is almost 50,000 square feet in size and sits on approximately nine acres. This regional campus is a multi-purpose facility with an emphasis on youth ministry. Gateway wanted to create an exciting and unique center for their youth. They needed a place that would attract youth to spend time on the church campus and as part of the larger community. We created an entertainment center, equipped with a Wii-Tree (6 interlocking Nintendo Wii video game stations), several wall mounted PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game stations, and iPod listening kiosks. These were arranged to make the players feel part of the larger community, and encouraged interaction with youth at surrounding stations and the rest of the hall.
