I was a resident at Parc Place Shelter many years ago and my experience was nothing like the other person's. Yes there were rules, Yes there was a curfew and lights out time but I believe a shelter has to set rules. It is not a home it is a shelter. They supported me in my time of need. There were people who came and couldn't take the rules but I'm sure people like that have problems with rules everywhere they go. I was never disrespected by the staff or treated unkindly and if I had been treated that way I would have reported it immediately and let the proper authorities handle it. The community it's in is one of the worst in Portsmouth but I never felt unsafe, I never saw all that crime and mayhem when I was at Parc Place. Some people exaggerate so much.
