Don't let the building or the name full you! Porter House is not some manly steakhouse. It is a fine dining experience and one of the very few restaurants in Lynchburg that takes reservations. ||[]||[]When you walk into the restaurant, the first thing you may notice is that it is a little dated looking, but still very elegant. The seating/serving staff wears actual tuxedos and bow ties. The entire restaurant is candle-lit. The tables are covered in starched tablecloths. Beverages are served in real crystal glasses. Food is served on fine China. The servers describe the flavor experience and thought that went into creating each dish as they serve you. The menu is wonderful. The desserts are very affordable. At one time they had great hot wings.. Today was a whole diffrent story.Hot wings are suppose to be hot,but they tasted like regular wings.When I called to complain all the young lady kept saying she sprayed the chicken herself..Who sprays hotwings.They didn't even say i'm sorry how can we fix it.Just hung straight up.I for one will never go back there again. The "smoking" section is considered "non-smoking" at lunch even though the people at the bar 2 feet away are smoking. I met friends for lunch there and I am back at my office reeking of cigarette smoke. I'm 5 months pregnant and actually feel sick from the smell. Nothing against smokers but VA law says that there needs to be a seperate area and there should be. I contaced the VDH so I hope they do an investigation.
