Unfortunately, I do not have negative star option for these guys. I always like and buy La z boy furnitures. I wanted a new living room coutch as I recently moved to this area. I visited the la z boy store in Atlas Walk Way in Gainesville, VA. The lady who was trying to sell me the furniture did not know the difference between feet and inches. She was trying to upsell me the extended warranty and special coating on couch. Finally, I decided to buy it and manager said that they will add $150 to deliver to my house and it will take more than a week. I asked the manager if they can deliver it for free as the furniture was not available for immediate pick up. The manager guy said that he don't need such business and I can still remember his nasty look on me. I can't beleive that la z boy - such a reputed company has this kind of employees loosing business to loyal used-to-be customers like me. ...read more

FAQs - Roof Cleaning For most folks in the area, the mere mention of roof ‘cleaning' conjures up a raised brow, along with an inquisitive look. It's still largely an unknown yet needed service for many. Our biggest challenge at American-ProTech is to inform the public that wedon't have toput up with unsightly roof stains on our biggest investment, our home. Wedon't have toreplace a roof, simply because it's discolored with streaks, lichen or moss. Wedon't have tolearn to look past it, because it can be rectified very affordably. The following are questions I've heard from many, many clients so that you the homeowner or commercial property owner, are better informed. What are those stains and streaks on my roof? I'm told it comes from the trees or jet exhaust of something like that? Most of the time it's a strain of blue/green algae with a long scientific name of gloeocapsa magma. Why is it on my roof, but my neighbor's roof directly across the street looks clean as a whistle? Often times it CAN be found on the house across the street. Chances are it's on the back of their roof. On the front of my roof, but on the back of theirs? Why is that? The northern exposure of a roof is much more prone to harboring roof algae due to the limited sun exposure. The lack of UV rays, and the additional moisture retained on the shady side of the roof create an environment where algae can flourish. I never noticed these roof stains until the last decade or two. Please explain. It was 20+ years ago that the shingle manufacturers started to use limestone as the filler material in asphalt shingles. In addition to shade and moisture, roof algae needs nutrients – a food source to establish itself on the shingles of a roof. Limestone is that perfect food source. Let me get this straight – this roof algae, gloeocapsa magma – it's feeding on the filler in my shingles? Unfortunately, yes. I see some other ‘things' apparently growing up there. What's the deal with that? Often, although not always, once algae has a strong foothold on a roof lichen will follow. And in very shady locations, even moss will grow. My neighbor to my east just had his home re-roofed due to those stains. This roof cleaning that you mention, what can be done? Sadly, I have personally witnessed quite a few roofs being replaced for what appears to have been solely due to stains and streaks, and NOT due to the shingle's end of life. I've seen the same thing happen in my own subdivision. Roof algae, lichen and moss can all be safely removed. Roof cleaning? A matter of dollars and SENSE……..
During the summer of 2010, I received a call from a memorable potential client in Manassas VA. He was somewhat gruff, and dare I say even abrupt during our initial phone conversation. He wasted no time telling me that he had a quote ‘in his hands' for a new roof, that it was going to cost him over $5000 and that he ‘wasn't happy about it'. He quickly informed me of the black streaks and stains that were all over it, and that the home and roof were only 14 years old. Fast forward a day or two, and I met with him at his residence. His middle class home was in immaculate condition – the pride of ownership was very obvious. However; something looked very out of place - the roof of his home had severe black streaks all over it as he'd described, a substantial infestation of algae on the North side as is typical. I discussed our process in great detail and answered his questions as we walked around the perimeter of his home. I inspected every square foot of the roof via binoculars, and offered them to him several times so that he too could have a ‘close up' look from the safety of his yard, feet planted firmly on the ground. It was after this that Joe (we were on a first name basis by this time) asked me "what's a service like this cost?" I took a few measurements and excused myself to the truck to calculate his quote - not an estimate, but a firm quote. I presented the quote to Joe, and without hesitation he asked me ‘when can you do it?" His Manassas roof was restored early the following week. The roof that was only fourteen years old, yet he like many others had thought a new roof was needed due to stains.
