Choose a venue for the wedding and reception Book a photographer Book a caterer Book someone to do the cake Book a florist Choose attendants and their attire for the big day Choose music and musicians Choose an event planner/director Within each of these categories (and there are more) are decisions, decisions, and more decisions.  Choose vendors with whom you can establish a rapport; your vendors should listen to your ideas as well as concerns.   You bridal gown is a big choice.  You may know that you love lace, or an a-line style, or a ball gown or a vintage look.  But do you know what really looks good on your body?  Do you understand the difference between a well-made gown and one that requires a couple hundred dollars of accoutrements to make it look good and a few hundred dollars of alterations to make it fit?  A quality gown should not require major alterations nor should it require extra foundation garments.  Allow ample time for the gown to arrive--usually 14 to 18 weeks at least.  (If you need to purchase off the rack, you may need to have more extensive alterations.)  Don't succumb to high-pressure sales  and if a consultant tells you everything is gorgeous on you, RUN!  Shopping for your bridal gown should be a fun experience; the consultant should make you feel comfortable and should be able to offer expert advice in all aspects of bridal attire and accessories.   ...read more
