My husband & I had been looking forward to dining at the Palisades for some time. Unfortunately, we will never go back! The room was so cold we had to keep our coats on. The food was not much better. Our veggies were almost frozen as well as some of my scallops. The potatoes were also cold & my rice had been cooked so long it was tasteless. My husband's porkchop had very little taste. As for bread we were served a small biscuit which was almost as hard as hardtack! We really love finding a good new restaurant. This is certainly not one of them. I have eaten at the Palisades several times and I think it is one of the best restaurants in the New River Valley. The trout and stuffed pork chop are delicious and the New York Strip Steak is the best I've ever tasted. Everything is made from scratch and much of the food is locally grown. The restaurant also has a great beer and wine selection. The building, formerly a general store, is a National Historic Landmark and retains the original pressed tin ceilings and hardwood floors -- it has a lot of charm and history -- the shelves along the walls are lined with local antiques and memorabilia.
