My name is Irene F. Hammond; I am 68 years old and have had my Social Security (disability) check DIRECT DEPOSITED into my checking account at Bank of America for over nine (9) years. At Bank of America my checking account was free, meaning NO minimum balance required; and NO service charges added monthly to my checking account. When the transition from Bank of America to First Community Bank occurs Oct. 24, 2014, I am assuming that I will also have a FREE checking account, with NO minimum balance required, and NO service charges added monthly to my checking account with First Community Bank. Also, how many complimentary checks will I receive, and will my name and address appear on each check? I also hope that with this transition I will have to do NOTHING about my Social Security Direct Deposit--that it will all be handled by the bank. I also understand that I will receive a First Community Bank Visa Debit card--no charge I HOPE. If you would answer all these questions for me, I would greatly appreciate it. Right now I am without transportation or telephone. Bank of America was unable to answer ANY of these questions online a few minutes ago, so that is why I am contacting you. I have been a good customer and have made my house loan on time and now I ask for a readjustment of the interest rate that is 9.72% and was told that I didn't have "a relationship" with them and that they would not do it for us. I have worked as a public school teacher in Richlands, Va. for 26 years and taught children to do the right thing. In these economic times, I certainly don't think this is the right thing! I am calling my representatives, and will probably take out full page adds in the surrounding counties telling my story.
