GrooveTree Guitar Lessons SLC

"The decision to take lessons was not an easy one. Committing to the time and money, or sticking to my same routine? I was at a point where I was struggling practicing and understanding concepts on my own. Ultimately I decided to take lessons. George has been great! Having one on one time with someone who understands where I'm at and what I would like to achieve has been so helpful. Having my weekly lessons helped push me and stay on the track to progress. From theory to technique I am always learning. Even after a year of lessons I still come away excited to practice!" -Shelley G - SLC, UT ...read more

My son is an amazing guitar player! I would not be able to make this statement so boldly and it be so accurate had George Simon not been a part of his life for the past 6 years. Not once in 6 years has my son ever doubted playing, ever wanted to take a break from lessons, or lower guitar playing on his priority list. That alone is a testiment to George’s abilities and skills as a guitar instructor. We have thrown a ton of challenges right at George with no prep time. George has never disappointed my son. As a parent he has far exceeded the expecations of what does GET accomplished during the lesson time. There is no hestitation as I say, “Hey George, can you get G ready to try out for Jazz band next week? or “Oh, he was just given 78 pages of music that he has to play solo on in 2 days for high school jazz band”. My son is an accoplished musician and LOVES playing the guitar because George is a part of his life and will continue to be. ...read more

“What I like most about the way George teaches is that he makes things as simple as possible. It’s not about memorizing chords or scale patterns. His approach focuses on seeing shapes on the fretboard which helps to develop a deeper understanding of the way the notes line up. He also has a way of making music fun to learn and not tedious and boring. He is not only an accomplished musician, but also has the skills to teach that knowledge in a way that makes it easy to understand.” -Ed M ...read more

Network and shop locally: keep the revenue in the community!

I have had the privilege to live in many places during my 28 years: London, Brazil, Hawaii, Japan; and have travelled to many states and countries: all over the US, parts of Canada, most of Western Europe, much of South and Central America.  Something that always makes me like a place is when there's a real sense of community, and character.  I think a lot of this has to do with how well the local businesses and community support each other.  When I have the option, I try to shop from locally-owned and operated businesses.  It's not always the option as big-box stores push out the little guys.   I believe that we can all help create this sense of strong community; where people choose to pay a little more perhaps for the better customer service, better product, and to better their local community.  By supporting local businesses and making alliances with each other by giving referrals to our own customers for local shops where they can purchase goods and services we can do this. I'm a saxophone player and band leader in constant contact with many event coordinators, registered brides, and customers who are planning an event.  By networking together we can try to keep these customers coming to our local shops and family-owned businesses.  www.robbennion.com ...read more
