Dust Bunnies!!!

Computers are like most things they need cleaning. Removing dust from the computer will extend the computers life span. Depending on your location a computer will need to be cleaned once every other month. If you have pets you may want to increase this time frame. The computers fans will draw in animal fur and dump it on the board.  Buy a can of compressed …air. Unplug the power from the computer (DO NOT DO THIS WHILE THE PC IS ON) take the computer to an open area, it can get quite dusty, and open the side panel. hold the can in an upright position and use short busts to blow the dust out of the machine. If you hold the can upside down liquid can come out of the can and it could have the potential to damage the PC.  There are many other things to do to a PC to keep it clean. Millennia Tech has a service to do a thorough clean of the PC both hardware and software. ...read more

Online Shopping

Online shopping has become extremely popular over the past few years. With large department stores to small “mom and pop” stores providing their wears online for us to purchase to we have an enormous amount of choice. We can shop to our hearts content finding the best deal from anywhere… WAIT! Stop! Back up a bit. Not from anywhere! There are many bad people out in the world that want to take your money from you. Because we have so much choice we tend to try and find the best deal. This is great and I do it all the time. There is a time when a deal is too good to be true. You go through placing the item in your cart going through the checkout procedure, giving them your credit or debit card details and you sit in wait with anticipation for this great deal to show up. Days go by and nothing you contact the company you brought it from but they stone wall you. This happens daily to thousands of people. Just because you see it in print does not make it so. I would recommend that you shop from stores online that are reputable and been around for a while. I would also say use the mom and pop sites. I would also advise that if you have not purchased from the website you are on research it a little. The Web is a wonderful place full of information. Check out the store in several locations. A quick search in consumer forums will steer you in the right direction. Also a visit to the Better Business Bureau will give you some details on the company you are purchasing from. Spending a small amount of time researching this can save you a lot of money and heart ache. Where possible use a payment system that will protect you the consumer. PayPal is a great system which tries its best to assist you the consumer. Overall don’t let this detour you from a wonderful pass time of bargin shopping. This is more of a cautionary tale. What I have always used is “if it is too good to be true its false”. Happy Shopping ...read more

Taking a step back

This may come as a strange request coming from a computer geek but sometimes it has to be. Slow Down!!! Our lives are full of hustle and bustle with tech coming out of our ears. “Hold on my phone is ringing” we place a lot of emphasis on keeping up with the next man. We look to the manufactures to produce quality tech so that our lives can become – “sorry again I am getting an Email” easier. My life is surrounded by all forms of technology. My job and business require such attention to the current trends in technology and software. From my work at an ISP to being the local geek you can call to fix your issues, it surrounds me. Where does it end? I ask the question to myself constantly. Technology interrupts our lives, butts into to conversation, as you can see from above.   Has technology really made our lives easier? Or has it provided ways to increase the load we take on for ourselves and thus increased the stress?  The reason for this article is to prompt questions in your mind as to how much can you take on. I am very lucky to have a very supportive wife who knows when I have bitten off more than I can chew. She prompts me to re-evaluate where I am and what I am doing. I hope you all have someone who can be that guide. Let’s take a step back. Please let me know your thoughts as to how we can all take a step back. ...read more
