Overall, my "simple" metal building was done satisfactorily. Richard Parker was behind schedule on completing the work (about two months), but I had retained about 30% of the total price until completion. He did do everything I had wanted and even accomodated several of my "minor" changes during the job. Prices were, I believe, reasonable. About $15,000 for a 16' x 50' x 14' tall, w/ 20' insulated shop area building (full concrete floor with pier foundation). There were a few issues that arose such as: throwing metal scraps and trash on my property during the construction job, but he corrected that when I noted it. A few baseplate retaining pins not properly secured into the concrete foundation (that I fixed myself), and ramps into the building made of dirt instead of concrete (but that could have been my lack of specificity in the contract). Overall, I am satisfied with the work and building for over four years, with the few minor discerepancies noted. JAC ...read more

Impact Construction & Steel took $ 30,000.00 from us and did $15,000.00 worth of work. Three years ago we hired Richard Parker to erect a metal building next to our home. The estimate was $30,000.00. We paid the first installment of $15,000.00 at which time he poured the slab immediately. Because he did the pour so quickly we were comfortable giving him the rest of the money up front. BIG MISTAKE! His crew over a period of 2 years managed to come out and do basic frame work. It took a lot of calls, threats and a letter from an attorney to get that far. Then everything stopped. Mr. Parker admitted that he took our money and used it elsewhere and so did not have the funds to complete our building. Mr. Parker proceeded to ask for additional funds to purchase supplies to finish the job (keep in mind, we had already gave him enough for the whole job). We refused to give him additional money so we wait and we wait. Eventually, we NEED to get our building finished so my husband tells Mr. Parker that we will buy the additional material if he would just finish the job. Now the material sits. It is now over 3 years for a job that was supposed to be completed in 3 months and we are now looking for a new contractor to finish our building. It's going to cost us an additional $5,000.00, but we are hoping to get it back another way. We have now been notified that Mr. Parker has filed Bankruptcy for the second time and we are on the list of many creditors (it's a long list). We will be going to the hearing in a couple of months and I will update this review after that with any hopeful resolution. I can only say the only way to keep this from happening to you is to not have Mr. Parker and Impact Construction & Steel do any work for you. FIND A DIFFERENT CONTRACTOR!! ...read more

We hired Impact Construction & Steel of Springtown, Texas, 3194 E. Hwy 199 phone 817-677-2700, cell phone 817-703-3632 and owned by Richard Parker and Angela Parker and who reside at 103 Sunny Brook Court, Springtown, TX, in November 2013 to build a warehouse and RV carport for us beside our existing office in Granbury, Texas. Impact Construction & Steel job performance was substandard from the start. Richard Parker and Angela Parker began with setting the forms and pouring the concrete, the lack of proper oversight and inspection resulted in almost one third of the steel plates that were set in the concrete in order to allow for welding of the structural steel, to be set incorrectly due to improper measurements being taken. Richard Parker also tried to decrease the size of the entrance drive that was established in the plans in order to save money. Overhead door entrances were measured incorrectly which then caused Impact Construction & Steel to chisel out concrete instead of jack hammering out the incorrect concrete pour to try to make doorways work. Impact Construction & Steel also created door entrances that were for the incorrect types of doors. Overall the concrete work was very substandard. The poor concrete work was only the tip of the iceberg of problems that then ensued. The structural framing was very poor and required me to point our multiple issues daily in order to try and prevent an unsafe and or unusable building. Impact Construction & Steel was required to completely reinstall the roof framing due to their attempt to try and lower one section of the roof to 12ft instead of the 14ft height as called for in the plans. This error, which we believe was intentional to save them money and time created a huge problem with the roof which is now out of square and cannot have metal sheeting installed until it is repaired. The welding was not completed as agreed and most of the welds are tack welds with much of the support purlin held in place by screws. At present the building is not complete as we are trying to find another company who can rebuild the framing in order get the building square enough to allow for the metal sheeting to be installed. And, we now have vendors who did work on the project that have not been paid by Impact Construction & Steel who are calling us and coming by our office looking for payment. I will have a website within a day or so with photos and additional information that will show how inferior the quality of work that we have received from Richard Parker and Angela Parker who own Impact Construction & Steel of Springtown Texas, the website is www.impactconstruction&steel.net I think Richard Parker is from Louisiana. You may contact me at anytime for additional information relating to our experience with this company. Steve Haines, 254-631-7730 or steve@sales-r-up.com ...read more
