Mexican Businessman Facing Charges of Money Laundering in San Antonio

A Mexican businessman from Tamaulipas was arrested on suspicion of being involved in a money laundering scheme connected with San Antonio. He was accused of merely being a front for a corrupt drug cartel scheme involving the governor of Tamaulipas. Apparently, he had taken millions of dollars from drug-related activities as well as been involved in extortion and bribery. The businessman, F.M., allegedly accepted bribes in exchange for delivering money to officials in Mexico as well as creating false companies in San Antonio in order to hide the true source of the money. According toยง 34.02of the Texas Penal Code, money laundering is defined as having anything to do with money gained through criminal activity. This could be transferring or possessing the money, even if they never intended to use the money themselves. This offense also includes creating false businesses in order to hide the true source of the money. The penalties for money laundering vary depending on the amount of money that was laundered. If the value was between $1,500 and $20,000, it is considered a state jail felony. Funds valued from $20,000 to below $100,000 is a third degree felony and laundering of $100,000 and $200,000 is a second degree felony. The suspect will be charged with a first degree felony if they were accused of laundering money worth more than $200,000. It remains to be seen what the outcome of this particular case will be, but as millions of dollars are involved, he will be subject to the most severe forms of punishment. If you were accused of this crime, it is imperative that you do everything possible to defend yourself so that your freedom is not taken away. San Antonio Ex-Cop Tries To Appeal DWI Conviction

Driving while intoxicated is a serious offense, not only in Texas, but across the country. Although the charges and penalties vary slightly by state, these offenses are always either charged as a misdemeanor or a felony. If you were observed driving erratically by a law enforcement officer, they have probable cause to ask you to pull over. Either through field sobriety tests or chemical testing, they will then attempt to determine whether you are under the influence of alcohol. In an ongoing case in San Antonio, however, the tables have been turned, with a former police officer now attempting to appeal his conviction. Last year, San Antonio cop W.A.M. aged 35 was found guilty of a Class B misdemeanor DWI. He was seen wrecking an undercover police car and then refused to submit to chemical testing. When the police were finally able to obtain a search warrant and obtain a blood sample without his consent, his blood alcohol content was found to be 0.08%. In every U.S. state, the legal limit for alcohol levels in the blood is exactly 0.08%. However, since this test was taken so long after the initial arrest, W.A.M.̢۪s defense counsel argued that it should not have even been allowed to enter the court as evidence. The court found him guilty and he was sentenced to three days in jail and probation. However, he is now attempting to appeal his sentence because he believes that if the test had been administered when he was pulled over, the alcohol would not have been absorbed into his blood stream. If you were falsely accused or convicted of DWI or any other crime, aSan Antonio criminal defense attorneyfrom Daniel&Hudson; could help you. They have over 40 years of combined experience in this area of law and know exactly how to help you. ...read more

Legal Shield is counting down to the launch of our campaign to bring affordable legal access to the Spanish Speaking market of North American and we need Spanish speaking associates to help spread the word.
