Are you going to be in a photography studio or outdoors? If you are doing a studio photo session, do you want the setting to be dark or bright? If you are doing a photo session outdoors, will this take place in the morning, mid-day or in the evening? What Mood Do You Hope To Capture? By determining what you would like the mood to be, you can also determine what the best setting will be. Outdoor photo sessions are great for many moods, especially for romantic, natural and playful moods. Studio photography offers you many choices as well, but the setting and lighting will also determine what you need to do if you are going to apply makeup. This can also help you with your wardrobe selection. Clothing For most photo sessions, it is best to avoid clothing with a lot of noise and keep it simple with the colors in your clothing. Wear clothes that help to set the mood you hope to achieve. If this is a maternity shoot, bring a variety of clothing. Study other maternity photos to help you understand what works best for these types of shoots. If the mood will be romantic, focus on clothing that identify with masculinity and feminine qualities. For family sessions, choosing clothing with colors that will blend is a good idea. Makeup Before applying makeup, understand what type of lighting you will be taking photos in.
