About Itasca, TX
Itasca is a small city in Hill County, Texas. Itasca is located on Interstate 35, near the edge of the Blackland Prairie in the northeast corner of Hill County. The city is situated at the head of Richland Creek on a natural watershed and is named after Lake Itasca, a lake in Minnesota. Itasca is a culturally diverse community and hosts annual bull riding competitions, Cinco de Mayo festivals, barbeque cook-offs, parades and a variety of community activities. Itasca is fondly referred to as “The Big Little Town.” Though mostly rural, Itasca is located 42 miles south of Fort Worth and 58 miles southwest of Dallas. The largest employers in the town are Hilco Electric Cooperative and the Itasca Independent School District. Other businesses in Itasca include Bosque County Transit, Southern Enterprises and Quality Storage Buildings. When visiting Itasca, two of the best places to visit are Heritage Community Park and the newly restored Itasca Depot.
