I travel a lot in my business and have been buying suitcases, laptop cases, and attaches from Luggage & Leather since they were on Polk Street in Downtown Houston 30 years ago. Hands down, they have always had the best selection of high quality luggage, laptop cases, and travel accessories in Texas. They carry the best brands, which may seem a little more expensive at first, but most of them have lifetime warranties like my Briggs & Riley bags. In the long run, they are cheaper than throwing money away on a cheap, poorly made bag that has to be replaced after a few trips and are a real pleasure to use. Most recently, I have been buying suitcases, laptop cases, and travel accessories at the store on Sam Houston Parkway and at the store on Richmond near my home. About once a year or so, one of my suitcases will need some serious attention after 100 flights or so and I take it here. I just picked my favorite suitcase up today. It is almost 20 years old and the model is obsolete. Baggage handlers at the airport had pulled the main handle off, it needed cleaning, and lots of little repairs, such as sewing an inside pocket back together. When I picked it up, I couldn't believe it was my old bag. It looked brand new. Thank you guys, so much! I recommend Luggage and Leather to any serious traveler. ...read more

I've never had shoes re-soled before. I always just chucked them, but these were expensive and they were so comfortable. I decided to get them fixed. I was shocked by how great they turned out. I will be taking another pair there next week! ...read more

I wore a hole thru the soles of my favorite shoes so I decided to get them fixed after checking the price on a new pair. When I brought the shoes into Houston Shoe Hospital on South Shepherd, they asked if I wanted them to refurbish the leather as well. I thought why not it wasn't much more. I was shocked at the difference when I picked them up. They looked like they did when I bought them. The overall cost was half what a new pair would have cost me plus these are already broken in. Good deal for a ""new"" pair of shoes.\t\nVery courteous service, done on time. ...read more

Ariel's Village Shoe Shop

My family has done business at the Village Shoe Shop for well over 30 years, perhaps even 40. Driving in from Victoria, Tx. to make a stop there for shoe repairs. It isn't the same people. It isn't the same service. It isn't the same quality. All that remains of the original is the name and the location of the business. Stil higher costs than most any place else, a hussel to spend more<but that's business> but now with an unforgivable culture of rudeness. Avoid this place. Take the time to research other places and I'm not talking about chain shoe repair places. ...read more

This location has large area rugs and more furniture than the other locations. Their kitchen department also is more organized than other locations, probably because of the size of this location. The lines are way too long here on the weekends. Don't even think about making a last-minute gift purchase here on the weekend on your way to a party. ...read more

I walked into the Village Shoe Shop just to get a simple repair and left with a smile as well as some friendly new acquaintances. It troubled me to find a good shoe repair store in Houston, due to the fact that I need shoes to me fixed for a wedding, pronto. I needed new heels and strap to be re-attached to the shoe itself. The job was done quickly and easy. Not to mention the friendly staff behind the counter that were a great help. I highly recommend the Village Shoe Shop if you want a good quality repair with great service. ...read more

I went into the Village Shoe Shop in Houston to order some orthopedic shoe inserts. I showed them an old pair of inserts and stated that those type of inserts were exactly what I wanted and could they make them? The sales person said yes, so I had my feet molded and measured for the inserts. Came back about three weeks later to pick up the inserts and found that they had made the inserts completely WRONG -- the inserts were completely different from what I had requested. So, they had to remake the inserts. I then returned three weeks after that and found that the new shoe inserts were again NOT what I had requested -- they were completely WRONG -- made of the wrong materials and the wrong way. They tried to glue some cork onto the bottom to try to "fix" the problem, but I refused to pay for such a cheap workaround that would only last a few months. So, once more Village Shoes said were going to remake the inserts. I made sure to once again show them the type of inserts I wanted, and they promised that they would make what I requested. Came back AGAIN three weeks later. The orthopedic inserts were once again NOT what I had asked for. They were "closer" to what I wanted, but the store had NOT used the materials they had promised to use. I took the inserts home to try them and they were not very comfortable so I don't wear them now. Plus, the top leather on the orthopedic inserts started peeling off. I gave up on the Village Shoe Shop because it was now almost 3 months from when I placed my original order. $350 down the tubes. I have no idea WHY they can't seem to follow the most basic of instructions. I won't be going back there again. ...read more

I've a pair of Mary-Jane styled Tommy Hilfiger shoes that I love so much with only worn out heels. Since Rice Village has been so popular with so many famous brand name store, I trust that the only shoe repair store here would give my favorites shoes some good fix to the heel bottom. So, I've brought my shoes to the store on Wednesday afternoon & was promised by the clerk to receive them back on Thurs with a total of $12.50 for heels fixing. I told the clerk that I will pick them up when I'm off on Fri so just get them ready for me. I decided to give them good time to complete the job, and so I went to pick up the shoes on Fri late afternoon, instead of early morning. To my surprises, the shoes haven't been fixed at all & the new clerk cannot even find my shoes until she walked around the shop to look for them. Then, they asked me to come back in 10minutes & they will get them fixed in that time. How's ridiculous! After a good walk around the shopping place, I came back to pick up the shoes. To my amazements, the heels are brand new, but the laces that should still be intact around the shoes are all torned out & seemed to be beaten up so bad that they are ripped apart. Wow! I think to my head, this is a whole $12.50 for a now all ripped up shoes. In addition to the whole awful service, the girl charged my credit card a dollar more than it should be as estimated. What's am I supposed to do when I look at my credit card when I got home! Gee, drive all the way back & say this awful service should not even be costed more than a penny. I've now learned my lesson. Although the area might be nice, the service won't be as good as you think. I should have just saved that moneys to buy another new pair of shoes as I've now done. Never again would I think of fixing any shoes, no matter how much I like them at this store again. One service shows all. What's a disappointment! ...read more

I have used the South Shepherd location for many years and have never been disappointed... might find a cheaper repair place, but will likely never find an equal as far as quality. Just picked up my loafers and they'll likely have at least another two years of good wear in them. Can't recommend Houston Shoe HOspital enough... they're great... fast, fair prices, and quality workmanship. ...read more
