We were headed to the store when Mady said "Can we go see the water?" I said, "Sure, but I am not sure if there's much water left." We proceeded after stopping at Tommy's to get a couple of drink's and a few quick items. When we entered the park the signs said boat ramp closed. Once we got down to the boat ramp that was blocked of barricade and red tape. She says "Why is the lake going dry? The water is yucky right?" I explained to her that we need rain to keep the lakes and rivers full and safe to swim and play in. I also explained this is one of the reasons we have to boil our water now so it is safe to drink. Meanwhile in the back of my mind I am thinking they want to expand Comanche Peak? What is that going to do to our resources as far as water? I understand that the plant has brought a lot of jobs to the area. It is also cleaner than coal (unless something goes wrong), but we have to have some kind of balance. The less water we have in the local environment has a big play on the local Eco-system. We teach our kids that doing little things like turning the lights off when we leave a room, or the water when we are brushing our teeth can help a bunch.
