About Georgetown, TX
Georgetown is the county seat of Williamson County, Texas with it's recently restored Historic Courthouse at the center of the town square. Famous for the KKK trial, last century, in which the very first conviction of a KKK member was accomplished by Prosecutor Dan Moody. Major attractions include the Historic Square, Georgetown Lake, Southwestern University (The first University in Texas) and Inner Space Caverns. Georgetown hosts the annual Red Poppy Festival every spring and in October there is a culinary journey called A Taste of Georgetown. Georgetown is the home to the CitiBank U.S. Data Center and the corporate headquarters of Sports Clips. Georgetown offers great shopping options at their square, Wolf Ranch and the Rivery. Home to great restaurants like The Wild Fire, Dos Salsas and Monument Cafe. And don't forget the great candy shop Sweet Serendipity at the Square! Georgetown Independent School District offers two high schools, fed into by multiple middle and elementary schools. Georgetown has some 80 churches and a fine non-profit organization, The Caring Place that helps needy throughout Williamson County. Famous persons from Georgetown include Brooke Burns and Debbie Allen. Nolan Ryan currently resides in Georgetown as well. Georgetown has a great Chamber of Commerce that offers many avenues of support to the various businesses in town. Georgetown's current population is around 40,000 and is instrumental in the growth of one of the fastest growing counties the past decade in the United States. Georgetown is home to elegant living in Cimmarron Estates as well as multiple senior communities including the famous Del Webb Sun City with it's own shopping area, golf course and restaurants. If you prefer country living Georgetown on the north end of the Austin suburbs still has many ranches on the west side and farms on the east side. A country home in Georgetown can be just 15 minutes from the city proper. Georgetown is a great, energetic community with plans toward the future though rooted in the past.
