About Garden City, TX
Garden City is located in Glasscock County, Texas, and is the county seat. The town began in 1886 when the local post office and general store was established. Garden City was supposed to be named after the general store owner, Mr. Gardner. Due to a clerical error in Washington, the city was deamed "Garden City." Today, the area is home to several windmill farms, generating wind power for much of Texas. Local businesses include Robin's Market & Cafe and Halfmann's General Store. Garden City is also home to a large limestone quarry. Students in the area attend the Glasscock County Independent School District.
