As an experienced bike builder, and collector myself, I suggest everyone go to this shop for cycle work. I go to Island Cycle Repair every time I visit Galveston. I talk shop with the owner/mechanic Joey, and usually buy a few things. Last weekend me and my riding buddy were ripping around doing our usual urban assault on 25yr old lugged steel ATBs. I, for the first time in 30yrs of riding, endoed into a curb and significantly bent the fork on my 1986 Bridgestone. I limped it back to Island Cycle Repair, and asked Joey if he had the tools to fix it. Unlike so many, if not all, of the shops anywhere in the whole Houston Galveston area, I buy and sell used bikes, and could never find anyone to repair bent forks, Joey not only had the tools, he also knew how to use them! He also put me at the front of the line if I was willing to remove the fork myself and get it ready to be bent back. Awesome! Smiling happy people in that shop. No bike snobs for a change!
