Rising Star Competition is approaching!

It's time again! Frisco School of Music announces its 2nd Annual 2011 Rising Star Music Competition! Divisions: Piano, Guitar/Bass, Voice, Drums, Violin, Multi-Talent (students accompanying themselves) Age Categories: 9-13,14-18 The Frisco School of Music Rising Star Music Competition is a competitive event open to young musicians at two age levels: 9-13 years old, and 14-18 years old (age requirement as of entry deadline date of December 11, 2010). Instrument Divisions include Piano, Guitar/Bass, Drums, Violin, Voice and Multi-Talent Divisions (example, a vocalist who accompanies themselves on guitar or piano). The purpose of the Competition is to recognize talented young musicians. Contestants submit their talent video with their application and entry fee.  Three finalists  for each instrument division will be selected to perform at the Competition. AWARDS All entries will receive a $100 Student Scholarship toward 2011-2012 tuition at the  Frisco School of Music. Trophies will be awarded in each age category for each of the six instrument divisions at the discretion of the judges, as follows: First Place - 1st Place Trophy      plus additional $100 FSM Scholarship Second Place - 2nd Place Trophy Plus additional $75 FSM Scholarship Third Place - 3rd Place Trophy  Plus additional $50 FSM Scholarship BEST OF SHOW PRIZE WINNERS One BEST OF SHOW winner will be selected from the six First Place winners for each age category, and awarded an additional $100 FSM Scholarship. Best of Show (9-13 years old) $100 Cash Price Best of Show (14-18 years old) $100 Cash Price Judges decision is final. COMPETITION GUIDELINES ELIGIBILITY Students ages 9-13 or 14-18 as of the entry deadline date, December 11 2010. Enrolled in music lessons with Frisco School of Music private teacher at entry deadline date and also at date of Rising Star Competition. May enter only one instrument division. MUSIC REQUIREMENTS Contestants will perform one musical selection in any style (open repertoire). All selections must be performed by memory Maximum performance time:  3 minutes Longer compositions should be performed without repeats.  Judges may stop the contestant when maximum time is reached. Lyrics must be of acceptable nature (judges will stop any unsuitable material and disqualify the contestant). Live or CD accompaniment are acceptable Entry fee is only $40, and you have three options to enter: I am entering my audition video by: Submitting my Youtube URL to music@friscoschoolofmusic.com Scheduling an appointment to be recorded in the Frisco School of Music.
