What can you do to save money on the preparation of your return? Be organized - look at last year's return Be complete - starting and stopping on a return will increase the amount of time Be timely - get back to the preparer ASAP with answers to questions. Less time will be spent on the return while it is still fresh on the preparer's mind. Picking up a return after time has passed requires the preparer to become familiar again with that return which adds time to the preparation of the return.
