Apparently people believe they can build a website and it will just show up on the first page of "Google", believe me it's not that easy. Getting ranked on the first three pages is a continual job and only the diligent and prudent will make it. It used to be enough that you could get a catchy domain name, put a title, some keywords and a detailed description on all your website pages and you were "good to go". Don’t get me wrong - Currently, you should still do all of these things, but if that is all you are doing then you are not going to see the end results you anticipate. You now not only have to make sure you website is coded exactly right, with “alt tags before images and make sure it is compatible with all of the browsers etc., but you also have to keep up on the search engine spider/crawlers and make sure you’re not overlooked for some silly reason. To top it off, all the rules that Google is constantly changing. You need to use the media platforms and get your name out there such as on your Face book business page, LinkedIn, and don’t forget Merchant Circle, and other free business listings; get your name out there! There are entirely too many platforms for you not to put your name out. You need to constantly market to see results. Now if you are like a number of people and just too busy to do it, find someone to do it for you. This is something that the more you do it the more it pays off. Team up with a group of friends and share links; the more people you help by putting up their link on your link page, the more people will put your link on their website. It all adds up. Set some time aside each week and really have a plan on how you are going to market your business and ways to go about it. Make sure that when you are submitting you business on free business directories that you split up your ideas, be creative and mix it up. It’s like when you are looking for a storefront everyone tells you that you‘d better have a good customer base before you even think about.
