Ace Discount Glass

1.0

By ArtinAustin

I will NOT RECOMMEND Ace Glass Shop (6308 Spicewood Springs Road Austin, TX 78759). I am refurbishing a nice frame that I found at a garage sale. The previous owner painted the frame w/glass on it, and it was all stuck together. I took it to Lowe's for new glass as the pane broke in the commute (jagged pieces around corners). They measured/cut the glass, but didn't fit it into the frame as neither of us had gloves to remove the broken glass. Last night, I removed the old glass, painted the frame, and went to put in the glass from Lowe's. It was 1/4" too big. As I was frustrated with Lowe's, I called the nearest glass shop, Ace Glass on Spicewood Springs road. Surely they would know how to fix this piece of glass and it would be cheap as I was bringing in a piece to cut down. They said it would take 5min. and bring it in. I took in my $6.90 Lowe's glass and asked if they could take off just 1/4". Sure, no problem. It will take 5min. I waited 15min in the waiting room and went to see if it was ready. Three office guys (including the one that took my glass) were sitting in the office laughing. I asked if my order was ready: "Yeah, we'll get to it in a minute." 10min later, I go into the lobby to get my trimmed down by 1/4" piece. "That will be $20, ma'am." WHAT?!!! For a piece of glass that I BROUGHT TO YOU? It cost me $6.90! I obviously had SUPER SUCKER on my face. I've since been told that Alamo Glass on Lamar are serious and spot on with fair pricing. I wish I had gone there instead. ...read more

The Most Effective Insulation Contractors

It is a serious mistake to underestimate how important a comprehensive background check can be when you're working with an insulation installation contractor. Look for online reviews and ask for references you can contact for their opinions on the insulation repair contractor's performance. We've some excellent strategies here to help you source out and secure the best insulation installation contractor for your needs. Any project will probably be guaranteed success through good communication that entails detailed expectations and a steady input. Most problems can be prevented or at least resolved easily through open and honest communication with your insulation installation contractor. You will relate well with your service provider so long as both of you're communicating well and fairly often. If you want to avoid legal problems, it's an excellent idea to keep detailed records of any and all interactions with your service provider. Make it very clear to any prospectiveCellulose Insulation in Austinexactly what you want done and what your requirements and expectations are. Prospective insulation repair contractors should repeat your vision and expectations in their own words to avoid miscommunication. To avoid delays, ensure you have a schedule for your project and let your service provider know about it. Include details like your goals for the project and anticipated deadline in the written contract that you and your service provider sign. You'll be able to resolve conflicts with your local insulation installation contractor more effectively if you discuss the issues privately. You should both have unreserved and straightforward discussion that may yield good results. Consider putting the work on hold until you've had a chance to resolve the problem. Always ensure you have a detailed contract before the beginning of the work and carry that contract if needed during the discussion of the issues that have come up. The moment you start receiving bids have in mind that a low bid does not mean that the insulation installation contractor will do low quality work. Check the costs of the materials and compare it with the low quote. While arriving at the final cost, you should include the cost of labour. If you find that the bid is reasonable, sign a contract with the bidder for the project to begin. An Insulation Contractor To Get The Results You Want

If you're at all considering the lowest bid among your insulation installation contractor proposals, give that one an extra careful inspection. Paying less can lead to an outcome that's unsatisfactory, and you'll end up paying more for a different insulation repair contractor to correct the work. In the following section, we've some advice for you on how to pick your perfect candidate. Before a licensedCellulose Insulation in Austinagrees to perform a job for you, he or she will need to know every detail of your project in order to provide you with the most informed advice about it. Give your service provider multiple opportunities to ask questions or to verify any additional specifications of the contract. If you are communicating clearly and regularly with your insulation repair contractor, you can almost guarantee that the project will be completed properly. Open communication is strongly suggested as it's essential to prevent mishaps. All communities are responsible for establishing their own building codes and corresponding regulations, which every insulation installation contractor must follow. Ask insulation repair contractors questions about these rules to gauge their level of knowledge when interviewing them. When an insulation installation contractor observes these rules, he is able to complete the job quickly. To be sure that he is very clear with them, you can give him some possible challenges and see how he can handle them. Your copy of the local phone book probably doesn't see much use these days, but it's a good source for identifying prospective insulation installation contractors in your community. Pick the insulation repair contractors you would like to talk with, or find out more info about. A written agreement should always have details on the financing of the project, including a schedule of what payments are due and when. You have every right to expect your local insulation installation contractor and his crew to clean up the job site at the end of each day's work. If a licensed insulation installation contractor proposals lower than you expect, don't assume that it represents poor work. Ensure that you know the cost of materials and compare it with that of the low bid. Also the labor expenses should be taken into account while counting costs. You can assign the contract if the pricing is reasonable. Before work begins, you can rely on a reliable insulation installation contractor to give you a written estimate. If your schedule is tight, it's okay to request a quote over the phone as long as you get it in writing soon afterward. Before signing an agreement, make certain your local insulation repair contractor has the skills and the time to complete your job effectively. Always have the answers to all your questions before working with an insulation installation contractor for your project. Attic Insulation Options Offer Pros and Cons

Attic insulation plays a critical role in home energy performance. In fact, most building scientists agree that the attic should be the first "target" area for insulation and air-sealing upgrades. Most homes are built with code-required minimum levels of attic insulation that are far below current recommendations established by the U.S. Dept. of Energy. Homeowners considering anattic insulation in Austinupgrade have a number of different insulation materials to consider. Each attic insulating option has distinct advantages and limitations. Understanding these pros and cons can help you select the best insulation upgrade for your attic. When presented with a contract to sign before a project starts, see to it that your particular stipulations have been included as discussed with the insulation contractor. You can save yourself a great deal of anxiety, and ultimately money, if you ensure that everything you and your insulation repair contractor have agreed upon is spelled out precisely in the contract. Do not sign the contract until you have discussed with your insulation contractor any questions and concerns you have about the job. Sometimes, a contract may become confusing due to legal jargon in it; call your legal representative and they will help you grasp the meaning of the contract. You can rely on a respectable insulation contractor to provide you with a written estimate before he can begin working on your project. A phone call can provide you with a rough estimate if you do not have enough time to wait for a written estimate. Go through the insulation repair contractor's qualifications and schedule to effectively ensure that the project will be done exactly how you want it and within your time and budget limits. Before you work with any insulation contractor, ensure all issues are properly addressed. More affordable than other types of attic insulation. Best type of insulation for DIYers to install. Unlike blown insulation, batts can be lifted up and moved to provide access to the ceiling below, can lights and ceiling-mounted vent fans. Existing batt insulation can often be left in place when blown insulation is added to increase overall R-value in the attic.
