Porter's Thriftway

I don't even want to rate this store a 1 but it is the lowest rating possible. I haven't had this much rudeness sence I lived near a reservation in NM. I came to this town 7+ yrs ago and still find that going to Odessa or Midland costs less to shop and drive than to even think about buying at Porter's Thriftway. Mgt is appears nice but they have more job turnovers than a convenience store. They even keep Walmart from coming in. I guess that is more power to the con man. ...read more

I live in Presidio and have to get along with the local residents. I have to complain, even if it is anonymously. This is out and out un-American and discriminatory. The Thriftway in Presidio often does not have anyone available that speaks English and some of the employees get downright ugly with me because I do not speak Spanish. This is not right! There is usually someone around that speaks plausible English, even if it is broken and poor English. I can actually remember when there were 3 stores open and doing oa good business in the small town of Andrews. Now there is one, and it is making money, but at the expense of the residents of the town. The only stores I can actually think of as worse than Porter's, are those that are situated below the border or in some 3rd world country. I can't even say that I have EVER honestly heard someone say they wanted to shop in Andrews at Porters. Too bad none of them care to know what people in this town really think, and make a change. There was a time I could say many nice thngs about the family fun business, but that time has past. I will wait to shop in Midland or Odessa, or just do without rather than shop in a place filled with rude kids "working" and groceries overpriced and not worth buying. Small town America is dying, and it is thanks to businesses's like this one. ...read more
