I was interviewed on a Friday (6/12) and offered a position of cashier and cook with a performance review. I asked that I needed a week to get my pet sitter and myself in order since the hours did not allow for lunch or dinner (11am - 7pm). My last conversation with Pinky Cortera was that they supplied shirts for their employees and a name tag. I left with the impression that the job was mine. I showed up today and Mr. Cortera was there. He appeared not to recognize me and when I told him that I was there to start my new job, he looked puzzle. He also mentioned he had just hired a new employee and could not train two people at once. He asked me about the interview with his wife. After explaining when we meant and what had transpired, he said he needed to call his wife. On his return, he said his wife would call me. I haven't heard a word from either of them and it is the afternoon of the Monday I was supposedly starting my new job. This is just BAD BUSINESS. How can an India family own a large, thriving business and just forget to tell a new hire that they hired someone else. Go back to where you belong. They deserve to work here and treat anyone, regardless of race, the way they treated me. ...read more

Wow! Where do I start? I was what most people in the field considered a chronic alcoholic, a hard case. Years of counseling, physiologic help, medications, etc. and I was still in a suicidal state. Nothing had helped. After 12 rehabs, I found New Life Lodge. \t\nAny person with an addiction has a incurable disease that they are born with. Not all with the gene for addiction, become addicts. Environmental factors, circumstances, mental disorders, past trauma, etc. can all lead many to find relief in one form or another. AA started years ago to help alcoholics. Today, there are many groups to help people with ALL types addiction, not just alcohol.\t\nI felt I needed to explain a little about the other factors that feed the addiction process because it has a lot to do with my usage. I had a bunch of issues do to events that have happened in my life. I was in mental turmoil! And I used to feel better, block the past out. And it worked great for a while until, it bypassed feeling good and having a good time, and wound up being a daily need. An obsession and a physical need so great it took over my life.\t\nNew Life Lodge not only addressed my addiction, they addressed the root cause, my disease and the reasons why I started in the first place. Don't get me wrong, the other rehabs realized what my problem was, it is a proven fact in the mental health field. New Life Lodge had the classes, groups, alternative therapy that worked with the mind and body, and some of the best techs & counselors I have EVER met. All that and the wonderful atmosphere, being able to be outside instead of inside 24/7, animal therapy, no cameras following your every move, great sleeping/living quarters, good food, & unconditional love helped to break down the wall I had up. I felt so much love and understanding there. When I return on Friday nights for the alumni meeting, the feeling is still there. My home away from home, my family. I am alive and sober today, living life instead of looking to die. It really was my lucky #13!\t\n\t\n\t\n ...read more

Why You Should Buy Your Own Health Insurance Policy

For years, Americans expected their health insurance to be provided by their employers. Health coverage came standard with most jobs, and many people never worried about paying their doctor and hospital bills. Those days are gone. Today, the rising cost of healthcare means that most companies can't afford to offer coverage. And now more and more people are looking at individual health insurance. Individual Health Makes More Sense Many people think that individual health coverage is more expensive that group health coverage. And many people think it's hard to find individual coverage that offers comprehensive health protection. The reality is that individual health insurance offers several advantages over group health insurance. Sure, it'd be nice if your boss paid every last dime of your health premium — but that's getting rarer and rarer. Employers keep shifting more costs onto their employee's shoulders. For many American workers, every few months means a bigger chunk of their paycheck going to pay for their “employer-sponsored” insurance policy. And many workers are finding that these insurance policies leave plenty to be desired. The Advantages Of Having Your Own Health Policy There are several advantages to owning your own health policy. The right coverage for you. With group coverage, everyone gets stuffed into the same policy. You end up paying for benefits you'll never use… and your own unique healthcare needs often get overlooked. In an individual policy, you get health coverage that's tailored for you. Coverage you can keep. Leave a job, and you leave behind your employer-sponsored coverage. But with an individual policy, you can go wherever your career path takes you — and your health insurance comes with you. You are only responsible for yourself. In a group policy, the cost of healthcare is spread out among everyone. That means you end up paying for everyone else's health choices. With individual coverage, you only pay for your health. For many people, individual health insurance makes more sense. And for less than you think, you can get a comprehensive health insurance plan designed to fit your needs. Want to learn more? Get free quotes and compare plans online. In less than a minute, you can see for yourself which plans make the most sense for you. www.candicecokefair-insurance.com ...read more
