I wanted to adopt a dog and I wasn't even given a fair chance to! No papers filled out nothing, the rude employee just said "I don't see interaction", after 5 minutes of being there with my dog! They encourage people to adopt, then they won't let you! Ridiculous! It's supposed to be a "no kill" shelter yet I hear they do kill them! Just to think, I used to volunteer my time there to walk the dogs and this is how I get treated back! They need better employees and it's supposed to be about the animals, not the employees and their power trips! ...read more

We found a wonderful cat there. We went on a Saturday, so they were EXTREMELY busy, but they showed us where the cats were, told us their policies and let us take our time and look around with no pressure. The staff was very friendly even though they were super busy. His first checkup is required within the first week to make sure he doesn't get a respiratory infection (which is common when there are a lot of animals within a confined space). They gave us a list of vets that work with the SFHS, and it's free if we go to the participating vets. A few days after we got Boo home, I had some questions/concerns and called. I left a msg and they got back to me within 10 minutes! She gave me the information I wanted, and then said we could certainly exchange him if we weren't satisfied. I immediately told her NO WAY!!
