Lake Andes is part of the Charles Mix County region of South Dakota known for its native American population and wetlands. Major attractions include the Lake Andes shallow prairie lake and the 'Waterfowl Production Areas'. Each year the first full weekend of June is celebrated as Fish Days with parade dance, free fish dinner, water fights etc. Among the biggest businesses in Lake Andes are the Randall Lake Insurance and Fort Randall Casino & Hotel. The biggest schools here are the Andes Central Junior/Senior school and Lakeview Colony School. One of the best places to visit when you are in Lake Andes is the "National Wildlife Refuge".
