Unfortunately, not all companies in the kitchen designing industry hold themselves to the same high standards that we hold ourselves.  This can lead to the client being quoted severely inflated prices without having any knowledge of what exactly is going to happen to their kitchen. Follow these simple steps when remodeling a kitchen: 1. Call the store directly and speak to a person2.  A designer should come to the kitchen that needs to be redone free of charge3.  While at the kitchen the designer should: Take measurements Discuss the client’s ideas and vision for the kitchen Be able to figure out any major design issues or flaws with the kitchen 4.  Approximately 3-7 days later, the designer should contact the client with a design.5.  When showing the client their design, the designer should explain: Specific crafting method and brand of cabinetry Types of drawers and hardware used in the cabinets Time-frame expected between order and delivery How the kitchen is both functional and beautiful Options for door style, color, and glaze 6.If no changes were made to the design itself, an accurate price is given that day.7.There are two options for moving forward: Obtain a design copy:  In most cases, this costs approximately $500 and pays for the designers time and effort to create the design. NOTE:  If the kitchen is later purchased by the same company, make sure the cost of obtaining the design will be deducted from the total price of the cabinets. ~OR~ Purchase the kitchen by putting down a deposit (typically 1/3 of total cost) and signing a proposal/contract stating their business terms.  This will enable the company to place the client's order. By following these guidelines, companies with lower standards and hidden fees typically weed themselves out.  Nevertheless, sure to develop a good business relationship and research the company to make sure this is the best company to aide the long process. Most cabinet companies take between four and five weeks after ordering to deliver the finished cabinets.  Remember that complications can arise even with the best company but they should make sure to work through and fix them as soon as possible.
