The borough of Womelsdorf, named after John Womelsdorf, the leader of Palatine emigrants, is located in Berks County, Pennsylvania, in the Reading metro area. During its early days, its industries included textiles and cigar-making. Major attractions include the Conrad Weiser Homestead, a historic site that interprets the life of Conrad Weiser, an immigrant who played a major role in the history of the state's colonial times and nearby Ephrata Cloister, which is a restoration of an 18th-century religious community. One of the best places to visit when you are here is 85-acre Samuel S. Lewis State Park, located within 20 miles of Womelsdorf and where you can enjoy hiking, picnicking, kite flying and scenic views of the Susquehanna River Valley.
