The town of Tunkhannock, which was named for an Indian term, variously translated as "meeting of the waters," "wilderness," "small stream" or "full of timber," is located in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, in the East Stroudsburg metro area. According to the town's website, Tunkhannock is considered one of the world's Top 40 "Last Great Places" by The Nature Conservancy. A major attraction in Tunkhannock is the Pocono Raceway.
