This program was based in a great deal of science and biochemistry and was very effective. But the most impressive part was how open minded they were. I went to another program before going to Arch...Read More…

Drug Rehab Pittsburgh PA

5.0

By Davidperez

I am a drug addict, however thanks to Drug Rehab Pittsburgh, I have been a drug addict in recovery for just about twelve months. Before going to Drug Rehab Pittsburgh, I had tried different rehab centers, however none of them were able to provide me with the type of treatment that helped me stay sober. At Drug Rehab Pittsburgh they set you up in a really nice house, feed you nutritious meals, take you to and from treatment each day, and essentially watch over you all of the time. They’re all skilled, compassionate, and very helpful. They really take care of you, transporting you to treatment and activities and ensuring you go to the group work meetings. They made a custom-made treatment program just for me, and followed up their program with an extremely supportive aftercare plan. Rehab undoubtedly saved my life, and without the tools and support they gave me, I don’t know if I'd be clean and sober today. ...read more

Discovery House

My experience with Discovery House is that the staff there is very unprofessional, especially if you get the counselor Emily Boris. She has been caught in lies not only to the police about events at Discovery House but also caught up in lies by her immediate supervisors although i doubt her supervisor Josh would vouch for the truth. My significant other was punished for my actions at Discovery House. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone although some people may have positive feedback, my experience being a patient there showed me first hand just how manipulative, vendictive, and two faced the people running that place are. The receptionest Monica and Sue are excellent and go far above the call of duty to thier job along with many other staff members. The head Honco Josh seemed fair to me at first but as I later found out, later, He is actually not fair at all. So before you decide to go to this clinic I would highly reccomend a different clinic. In fact I forsee many $$,s being spent on lawyers defending the DiscoveryHouse very soon. And lawyers are very expensive. I really do hope that it doesnt come to this and the Discovery House gets thier act together. What they do is act on suppositions. They punish on heresay and if they dont like you they WILL find some excuse, no matter how small, to get a client kicked out. And here I thought they were there to help. What they do is jack your methadone up and up and when they decide they dont like you anymore, they do everything they can to kick you out. My signifigant other did absolutely nothing wrong but yet they punished her for my actions. This is an injustice especially when methadone is such a nasty drug. THIS IS IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM A THREAT, but I swear on my life that I will have this in the courts,I've spoken with my lawyer, and he has informed me that we will have the Discovery House in court over and over. By the way the case for me is Pro bono so I wish Discovery House all the best in its defense. I am confident I have a strong case, my lawyer says its always a roll of the dice but since I have nothing to lose and it seems to me Discovery House has lots to lose $$ in defense fees because I will take this to the highest level possible. (Only in the courts of course) So Josh I hope you like grievances and lawyer fees. Make this go away. ...read more

Don’t let drinking destroy your career

When we paint a mental picture of who a alcoholic is to ourselves, we fill our minds with factors like how does the person act, how do they look, who they associate themselves with, etc. We look at obvious signs like loss of job or school performance, excessive work tardiness, and so on but what about those people who have adapted their bad habit so that they can cloak it from plain sight. These people use various tools to create the perception in our eyes that they are not alcoholics by masking it behind their successes. Highlighting things like their career progression, family success, items purchased and so forth, these people can effectively give us the “warm&fuzzy” causing us to look past their drinking habits that we may notice. Therapists relate to these people as high functioning alcoholics. A company boss or manager may be under the impression that due to their current ability to effectively perform their job, they must have their drinking problem under control since it does not obviously affect them in the workplace. However the rest of us looking from the outside in, know that this can change overnight and their world can come crashing down with no warning, due to alcohol. Mark my word, it is only a matter time before nature begins to expose their habit and typically it will happen at the worse time. As the constant drinking goes on, they will not notice their memory lapses of simple tasks at first and more serious ones later. They may not notice their quick thinking is no longer as sharp, however others around them will. At that point there is a lot at risk besides the health of the individual but now that person’s family and the company they own or manage as well. The struggle internally for that individual is that they may now find themselves in a conundrum that is quite tricky to socially deal with. Once they admit to their problem they can take time off from their job and pursue an in-patient program. However they will fear that this decision will still affect them negatively because they will lose the perception they built with the company they work for. This can lead to a loss of confidence by investors, stock holders and fellow workers and because they are away for an extended period of time at an in-patient alcohol treatment program, preventing them from physically and verbally addressing these concerns in person. Conversely they may have considered AA meetings, yet are turned off because they fear these meetings will not provide the kind of recognition needed to retain their position of leadership in the company. Another concern maybe that the meetings may not provide the kind of confidentiality they need to avoid public or peer scrutiny. This concern can be put to rest due to effective out-patient treatment programs for those who may feel there are no other options.
