How To Authentically Impress Your Employment Interviewer

How To Authentically Impress Your Employment Interviewer Although the job market has been a kingdom of doom and gloom lately there are some employers ready to get back to hiring employees. With the new year approaching you should be seeing new job openings very soon.  Keep your eye on the news in your local area because some hiring employers are in your area. This blog post will discuss how to authentically impress your employment interviewer. Before Your Job Interview The first of my job interview tips is that you need to dress neatly for your job interview. There is no need to wear a three-piece suit, or an elegant evening dress, but you do need to dress professionally. Even if the position is a casual dress position, you still need to dress professionally for the job interview. Show up 15 minutes early for the job interview. Bring a legal pad portfolio with copies of all the documents that you have sent previously to the employer in case they may need another, being prepared is very important. This will show the interviewer that you are a prompt person and that have respect for their time. If you show up late you are proving to them that you are an irresponsible person and you may not be right for the job. Prepare for the job interview by doing a little research on the company. It is not necessary to memorize the entire company profile, but it is nice to know a little about the company. You are then able to ask questions about the job, the company, and the potential advancement opportunities that may be available if you know more about where you are having your job interview. During Your Job Interview  Another important tip to follow is to make sure that you do not use slang or cursing during your job interview. I know that in everyday life, most of us tend to use slang and let a few words slip now and then, but you want to curb that while in an interview. I am not saying that you need to be totally proper and use Elizabethan English during your job interview, but avoid saying, “ya know” and “I’m not even lying about that”. It is important while in the job interview that you maintain eye contact with your interviewer. You do not however want to stare them down. When you keep eye contact you are able to show your potential employer that you are able to be confident in who you are and the job that you want. You also show your ability to be unafraid of speaking with people and show your magnetic personality. Smile! Nothing impresses a job interviewer more than someone with a positive attitude. You don’t want to give them a smile like the Joker from Batman, but you do want to show that you are an easygoing person and show them you are a positive person. An easygoing person is more likely going to get along with more people in the company than someone that is a little difficult or has less personality. Make sure when you enter the room for the job interview that you shake the hand of each person in the room and introduce yourself. Maintain eye contact when you do so and smile. This again will show the interview or panel of job interviewers that you are and that you are able to take hold of this job and run with it. After Your Job Interview After the job interview, make sure to send a thank you note. It is considered very good job interview etiquette to send one as soon as you get home. Make sure to thank them for seeing you on the specific date (to remind them) and to remind them of your strengths. Let them know how much interest you have in the job and how sincere your interest really is. Using the thank you letter will allow your potential employer hopefully to turn into your employer! 5 Creative Ways To Find A Job

5 Creative Ways To Find A Job Ok, you have posted to every internet job board and every job on Monster, CareerBuilder, and HotJobs. You've followed up with calls and networked until you are blue in the face. Each Sunday you take the newspaper and apply for every job in your field with little to no results. Well try some unique ways to find a job.  Linkedin.com Linkedin.com is a social media network with a jobs board. You should complete your resume and post it on your profile. You should  be sure to emphasize your experience in specific fields or industries you'd like to find work. Then click the jobs tab and look for positions you are interested in. Real employers with real employment opportunities search out resumes on Linkedin. You should also join as many groups and write posts on a regular basis. Make yourself look like a leader in your field. Draw attention to yourself in a professional manner. Odesk.com Odesk.com is a place where freelancers go to find work. The work offered here is real and they pay real money. You need to complete a profile and show your strengths. Many of the projects are usually done via computer. You will have the opportunity to state how much you want to get paid for a job, however, more often than not the project has a set price and a date of completion as well. At Odesk.com you will need to complete an I-99 form because you are responsible for your own taxes. This is an excellent way to make money online and work for yourself as well. Make use of the power of direct mail. Locate 5-10 companies. Write up a letter to your contact network and ask them if they know anyone who works at any of the companies on your list. When a contact says they know someone on your list, send them your resume and ask them to forward it their contact or ask permission to send it yourself. E-Mail Chain Letter Create a list of 20 companies you want to work for and send an email to everyone you know to see if they know anyone who works at these companies. Ask them to contact you if they do, so that you can ask for a referral. Finally, ask them to forward your email to 10 more people. However don't do this if you are currently employed! CallHuman Resources Sounds crazy, right? Call the human resources department. Ask them what outside agency or third-party recruiting firm they use. They will ask you why do you want to know. Tell them that their company is not currently looking for someone with your skill set right now the agency may be dealing with other firms, so you are looking for a recommendation. They may very well ask you for an interview. If not at least you do get a lead. They would love to save the agency fees. Also being recommended gives you special attention. Send them a thank you note. These  guerrilla tacticsare five different ways to find a job and  can give you better results. ...read more
