Carolann helped us obtain an apostille for citizenship purposes. Of course, we had to have it at the last minute. Carolann was able to walk our document in to the apostille department and overnight us the document immediately. We had the document in time for our appointment and all went smoothly. Carolann is incredibly reasonable with her rates compared to similar services, even when in a rush! We will recommend her to anyone needing these services, and could not be more pleased! ...read more

How To Amend Your Tax Return

Amended returns are filed in order to make a correction to the originally filed tax return. They can be used to change a filing status, add or remove dependents, report additional income, make changes to deductions, and recalculate credits.  All of which may result in a refund or a balance due. Once you decide to have your tax return amended you'll need to decide if this is something you want to do yourself or consult a professional tax preparer.  Expect the IRS to thoroughly review the return.  Next you will need to gather your tax information.  If you can't find your return the IRS can provide a transcript for that year.  If you are missing W-2s you can contact your employer.  Most employers retain copies for 4 years.  The Social Security Administration can also provide an earnings statement. If you decide to prepare it yourself remember to do the following: Indicate the tax year you are amending Clearly describe the changes you've made Double check your math Attach all forms that have changed Verify the mailing address of the IRS Service Center Your tax return can be amended for the last three years.  Currently, that includes 2006, 2007, and 2008.  If you have a refund coming it may take as long as 16 weeks to receive it.  If you have a balance due a professional tax preparer can assist you with setting up a payment plan to fit your needs. If you need additional assistance, I can be reached at 717-802-0162. ...read more

Living Wills - Should I Have One?

Living Wills, Advanced Life Directives, and Medical POAs all can speak for you when you are unable to speak for yourself.  These documents can allow you to decide what medical treatment you want and under what circumstances.  They provide your medical care providers guidance as well as removing the decision making burden from family members. These documents can be purchased at Office Supply Stores, Legal Document sites found on the Internet, and many hospital web sites have links to free forms.  Living Wills usually require two witnesses. Notarization of this document is optional.  Some believe it will carry more weight when used outside of Pennsylvania if it is notarized. Practical Tip:  Carry a business sized card in your wallet that indicates you've signed a Living Will, your agent's name and contact number.  Give your agent a copy of your Living Will. Disclaimer:  I am a Notary Public not an Attorney and cannot give legal advice or accept fees for doing so.  Living Wills, Advanced Life Directives, and Medical POAs should be reviewed by an Attorney. ...read more
