If God is your Co-Pilot, you’ve got issues!! Posted onMarch 1, 2013 1 “…He does the impossible thing as naturally as breathing.” These words from Oswald Chambers really cut me when I read them yesterday.  As a Christian I say that I believe in Jesus.  I put my faith in Jesus.  I believe that he can do anything. Than I fail to trust him.Oh, if you would have asked me I would have said yeah, I’m trusting in God.  But at the heart of it I really don’t.  I “trust” in God, but yet deep down I’m trying to resolve my issues on my own. When I was a kid I remember seeing the “God is my co-pilot” bumper stickers for the first time.  How true I thought.  Me and God flying through life, both of us with our hands on the controls.  After all, that’s what a co-pilot does.  According to Wikipedia:In commercial aviation, thefirst officeris the second pilot(sometimes referred to as the “co-pilot“) of an aircraft. The first officer is second-in-command of the aircraft, to the captain who is the legal commander. In the event of incapacitation of the captain, the first officer will assume command of the aircraft. If God is your co-pilot, you’ve got a problem.  God is my co-pilot.  I’ve got a real problem.  I need to be willing to relinquish the controls.  If I truly have faith in God, than why do I still have a death grip on the controls of my life?  Why am I afraid to let go? One of the things that I’m working towards in my life is to be totally sold out to Jesus.  I can’t be totally sold out without letting go of the controls.  I need to be willing to let go of the things in my life that are standing in the way of a deeper relationship with God. Why do I have trouble with that, it scares me.  As long as I have a grip on the control stick, I can control where my life goes.  When I let go and tell God that I’m giving up the controls, I have no idea where I’m heading.  That scares me.  What if God steers me towards something that I’m afraid to do?  What if God steers me to go someplace I’m affraid to go? In Matthew 28:20 Jesus says: “And surely I am with you always.”  If I have faith, and if I truly believe that Jesus is with me always, why am I afraid to let go?  If Jesus calls me to something that I’m afraid to do, won’t he help me to do it?  If He calls me to go someplace that I’m afraid to go, won’t he be travelling with me and remain by my side?  I know that He will.My aim this year is to not only let go of the control stick and let God be my pilot, it’s to get completely out of the cockpit.  God don’t need no co-pilot.  I have a couple of pilot friends, from what I understand flying can be allot of work.  It’s hard to enjoy the beauty of the trip when you’re hard at work.  I’m going to let go, let God do the flying and I’m going to look out the window and enjoy the journey. What about you? LoDown ...read more
