Maaco Collision Repair & Auto Painting

2.0

By tsbs at Citysearch

Took in my classic 64 Chrysler 300 to have repainted original color and minimal body work performed. Paid for their Best prep work & Best paint job available. They took over a month to complete the job to "take their time and do it right" (which I had no pbroblem with). It was difficult to properly inspect at time of pick up (dusty etc..) Once cleaned and inspected looked overall ok. I would rate the following for looks only on a scale of 1 to 10 (5 being average,10 being excellent) : Body work- 7, paint job- 6. Unfortunately one cant see how well a car was prepped and if it isnt prepped properly nothing else much matters. I paid over $3000.00 for their best possible job, which was only $900.00 cheaper than a quote from a local paint shop with a good rep. So far its been a little over 90 days and all seemed to be going well until a bubble appeared on the fender which means poor preperation. I am hoping that its an isolated problem and my car does'nt break out with the "measles" all over during the next 6 months. I did notice that the roof of the car was not prepped/painted well. (You can tell just by the feel of running your hand across it) I took it back to have the spot taken care of and am still waiting. Stay tuned for "updates" but I am worried that they will be negative rather than positive. Bottom Line: You should probably listen when people tell you to go elswhere. Their old commercial were partially correct " Uh-Oh Maaco" ...read more

Automatice Car Washes. Your Car Deserves Better.

I know alot of you out there like going to the automatic car washes, for one there very convenient, and 2nd there cheap.  Like they say though, you only get what you pay for.  Your car deserves better.  The problem with them is the brushes in an automatic car wash cause scratches and are not good for the paint.  Think about it, the car before you goes in and has dirt on it, so the brushes remove the dirt.  The problem is, not all that dirt comes off the brushes, the dirt that stays on the brushes gets rubbed against your paint and causes scratches.  The problem with brushless car washes is they do not remove all the dirt.  And all automatic car washes, brushless or not, only remove surface dirt.  They do not remove the contaminets that cause your paint to break down, dull out and crack. Now your probably thinking, " yeah but I take my car to one of those car washes where the people hand wax it after it comes out of the car wash".  Well, yes they do wax your vehicle and shine it up.  There's a few problems though.  One is if you have surface scratches on your vehicle, wax will not remove them, so all your left with is shiny scratches.  Second, going back to the first problem, they only use wax on your vehicle.  Yes it does protect it but it does not remove scratches, small imperfections, or contaminets.  In order to remove these type of things you need to use a compound.  The third problem with these places is, even if they used compound which they don't, it wouldn't work very well because they use what's called an orbital buffer. In order to remove these things properly you really should use a rotary buffer, but you need to have experience or you can damage the paint.  And last but not least, in most of the these places, the people working therer are usually high school kids or peple on college break and they  have no real expereince.  They use one type of wax, they don't know the difference between waxes, compounds and polishes, they don't realize that some vehicles need to be treated differently according to the paint condition.       With Crumlich's Car Care you get all the things those big car washes are missing, but you still get the convenience they provide.  First CCC's owner has 10 years experience in automotive painting and detailing.  So when your car is being detailed you can set your mind at ease knowing that it's getting a top of the line detail with the right equipment and materials.  Second, were even more convenient than those automatic car washes because we come to you and do everything on site.  So if you want to really protect your investment the right way and keep your paint looking new for as long as you own your vehicle, or bring your paint back to life, then have it done by a reall professional.  Call us, we'll put that shine back in your ride.     ...read more
