Autumn in Oregon
Oh October. Autumn. Fall. What a wonderful time of year! While we marvel at the wonderful weather (love the crisp chill in the air), October is also when things quiet down for us. It's a time when we clean and organize, and put everything back into its right place. The rafts, the PFDs (lifejackets), the wetsuits. The climbing ropes and backpacks. Everything. But this year, it's a bit different. This year, we are getting ready to initiate our "off-season"... a word we have deemed unworthy around these parts. I say that because we are able to, and love to, run trips all year long. Which means every month is technically "on-season". I know what you're thinking. You're thinking you can only do a few things during those "other" months. Au contraire, mates. Over the years we have run many a river trip in the spring and fall. I actually think that is when whitewater rafting and kayaking is at its best, because that's when the water is huge and the rapids are far more exciting (especially the Class IV rapids on the Clackamas River)! Of course, we also have some winter activities that are indoors (like a traveling challenge course with portable elements), plus a few outdoor options including snowshoeing and winter camping.
