I've been a decorator/coordinator for the past 10 years and played a role in a recent wedding held at the Holstein House. Not once in my career have I witnessed so much unnecessary stress placed on the wedding party and their family, with the majority of it being caused by Bonnie, The owner/coordinator of the facility. There big selling point is that it is an all inclusive venue (flowers, decorating, set up, clean up, etc) with the primary goal of ""keeping the stress down for the bride and mothers"". I would have to say that this goal was left out for this particular wedding. Weeks before we had asked which flowers we could use and how many, come the day of rehearsal/set up it was as if we had never talked, we had limited use of flowers (to the point that we had to buy our own and bring them in adding expense). If there was an option to rate this with zero stars, I would. The grounds may be beautiful, but the lady that owns them is awful. All weekend she bothered the people setting up for the wedding, and then the day of the wedding, she literally yelled at the bride and told her to "stop talking and get ready" because "we don't do late weddings here, it makes us look bad".....it was only 10 minutes after the wedding was supposed to start and all she cared about was HERSELF. Has anyone EVER been to a wedding that starts on time anyway? Give me a break. Besides, it's the BRIDE'S day and she was still getting ready. In the years I have spent decorating and planning weddings I have never worked with such a stress-inducing and unprofessional venue owner/coordinator. 1. She did not help with set-up or tear-down and did not want to let us move her unattractive décor and furniture. 2. The only wedding décor she had available was Christmas lights, tulle, and fake flowers. 3. The cut flowers she promised us were denied and we were forced to buy and arrange our own flowers. 4. She yelled at the bride for starting the ceremony 10 minutes late and proceeded to take off her coordinator smock, quit, locked herself in her house, and left the ceremony and reception to us. 5. She started to take apart the cake table and décor and loudly reprimanded us during the reception in front of shocked guests for using the wrong table. This Bob and Mira, the nursery's owners, are wonderful people and very knowledgeable about what grows well in the area. Bob grew up in the house at the nursery and is a great source for local history as well. The nursery looks small from the road but the more you look - you find that it has a great selection and their prices are the best in the valley.
