About Scio, OR
Scio is located in Linn County, Oregon, south of Salem, the State Capital. The town was named by William McKinney, an original resident, who named it after Scio, Ohio, his former home. The Scio post office was established in 1860. Today, Scio is home to a little over 700 residents. The area is known for local farms such as Angel Valley Farm, Harmony Jack Farms and Smith Family Farm. You will often find locals gathered at Covered Bridge Coffee House over muffins and cups of steaming coffee. The Scio School District educates approximately 650 students in three schools, an elementary, middle and high school.
