Please do not leave your dear children with this woman! My children have never been so afraid in their lives! She was screaming profanities (the F bomb every third word!) and physically and verbally accosted us. I was at the adjacent schoolyard with my children when she came in cursing and video taping because our dog was off leash for all of 60 seconds. We had come to this school to teach her how to heel with a bicycle, so we had no intention of keeping her off leash, we were just transferring the leash to another bike. She was foaming at the mouth angry, told us she had the right to issue tickets and that it was a criminal offense(untrue). We immediately thought it would be in our best interest to just leave and she intercepted us (both my children were sobbing and begging her to leave us alone at this point). She then pushed my daughter, who had my dog on a leash and was trying to get away, pinned my dog down , and took a picture of her tags! We kept running from her and she chased us all the way home, yelling profanities and yelling, "How do you like it that your mom is a criminal! How do you like having a mom who breaks the law!" We actually had to call the police, for the first time ever on a neighbor, because her level of aggression scared us. Anyone who shoves a (sobbing already because she is terrified) child and uses that horrible language, and is clearly not in a healthy head space, is not someone to entrust your child to! ...read more

Shannons Child Care & Preschool

5.0

By Haley Jane

Our 3-year-old daughter has attended Shannon’s for 7 months now and we would be at a loss if we didn’t have Shannon and her crew. I toured several full time daycares/preschools before choosing Shannon’s. Actually our daughter demanded that she go there after she toured it with us. The initial factors that led us to her is her style of teaching and beliefs surrounding learning through play and emotional development while providing needed structure/routine, teaching independence and the amazing outdoor play area that really encompasses Montessori’s theory. Shannon structures their learning environment by following the children’s lead.. whatever they show an interest in at that time. I’ve shown up unannounced at various times of the day and am always impressed. Whether it’s story time, nap time, meal time. Shannon makes home cooked nutritious and filling meals which is especially important to the parents who work long days and dinner can be difficult. One time I showed up unannounced in late morning and Shannon was carrying a shelf from the upstairs storage because the kids were looking for a house for their super heroes. When I came back later that afternoon the kids had made the shelf their own with the super heroes swinging inside. Little things like that really impress the kids and they all seem to have a great nurturing relationship with Shannon and the girls. In fact, when I come to pick up our daughter she usually always asks to say “just a little bit longer”. Emotional development at this age is vital and that is Shannon’s expertise. I’ve witnessed my daughter and other children have an age-appropriate disagreement and I’ve taken pointers from how she manages it… she provides guidance to the children on how to problem solve issues with each other. Her communication with us has always been easy, open, and honest. Other pros is their dog Tucker and the occasional get together where can you meet the other parents. It’s not just a daycare but a nurturing school for all ages of the children. ...read more
